The Rainbow Mountain Tour is a full-day adventure from Cusco to Vinicunca Mountain, one of the most impressive natural landscapes in Peru. You will hike to the viewpoint of Rainbow Mountain, where you can admire its striking colors, created by the composition and concentration of different minerals found in the terrain, along with the majesty of the Andes Mountains. An ideal experience for those seeking nature, adventure, and an unforgettable tour in Cusco.
The Rainbow Mountain tour from Cusco begins at approximately 4:00 a.m. with passenger pickup from their hotel or previously coordinated meeting point. From there, we will begin our journey south of Cusco toward the province of Quispicanchi.
We will travel for approximately two hours until we reach the district of Cusipata, where we will make a stop for breakfast before continuing to the starting point of the hike.
After breakfast, we will continue our journey by tourist transportation. We will pass through the community of Pitumarca and then arrive at the Chillihuani checkpoint, where we will begin the hike to Vinicunca.
From the starting point, we will begin an approximately 1-hour-and-40-minute hike toward Vinicunca Mountain, also known as Rainbow Mountain or the Seven-Color Mountain.
During the hike, we will be able to appreciate the characteristic landscape of the Andes, with mountains, high-altitude grasslands, and rural communities.
Upon reaching the viewpoint, we will have time to enjoy the landscape of Vinicunca and observe the different shades that characterize this natural formation.
Rainbow Mountain is located at a high altitude, so we recommend walking at a relaxed pace, staying hydrated, and following the guide’s instructions at all times.
This will be the ideal time to take photographs and enjoy the panoramic view of the Andes Mountains.
After enjoying Vinicunca, we will begin the descent along the same trail until we reach the point where our transportation will be waiting for us. We will then head to the designated location to enjoy an Andean lunch.
After lunch, we will begin the return journey to the city of Cusco. Arrival is scheduled for approximately 6:00 p.m., near the Historic Center.
